the other major sheep deities, ascsioated with male rams, are Banebdjedet (meaning the ba lord of Djedet, main cult centre at Mendes), Heyshef ( he who is upon his lake, main cult centre near Beni Suef) and Kherty ( lower one, main cult centre at Ausim to the north of Cairo). Brewer et al mention that ancient historians record some restrictions on sheep consumption and say that Plutarch reported that priests shunned mutton (p.93). All references to these restrictions come from late in Pharaonic history. As far as I know there are not that many representations of sheep in Middle and New Kingdom art, particularly when compared with cattle which had a much higher social relevance, but there are some excellent examples from the Old Kingdom. I have a couple of photographs from the British Museum if you're interested.
